Does anyone care about music anymore?

It seems to me that the industry is in a new phase where the musicians are becoming more important than their music. We hear tirelessly on legitimate news venues about people like Britney Spears, or the latest scandal so-and-so was in, or how Fergie was spotted working out. Even in rock and roll forums and magazines people are more concentrated on gossip and the details of the musicians than anyone really cares about listening to their album, or seeing their live performance. How much do you care about what your favorite musician ate for breakfast?
